Monday, 6/8/20 - Listen To Him
The Daily Manna
Welcome to your Monday devotional. Start your week strong by spending time with God.
Devotional
We are currently in a series of devotionals over the book of Matthew. Every day we will have a devotion from a different chapter of the book.
Text: “While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.” - Matthew 17:5
Devotional: During the event we often call “the transfiguration,” Jesus stands with Moses and Elijah, no doubt symbolizing prophets of God throughout history. It is at this moment that this voice from heaven is heard commanding us to listen to Jesus. It is then that other two men disappear, leaving ONLY Jesus. Do you view Jesus as the ultimate source of authority?
Prayer: God, I realize Jesus as the ultimate power and authority in the universe, and that no other human can stand with Him. i submit to Jesus’ will and authority as your beloved son.
Challenge: Who are some people that individuals follow as if they were Jesus, but who have no authority?
Our congregation’s mission:
“At the Marshfield church of Christ we are committed to glorifying God and uplifting one another through worship, spiritual growth, outreach, fellowship, and service to the community.”
Our congregation’s motto:
“Loving God. Loving Others.”
