Friday, 6/19/20 - Be A Servant
The Daily Manna
Welcome to your Friday devotional. It’s almost the weekend!
Devotional
We are currently in a series of devotionals over the book of Matthew. Every day we will have a devotion from a different chapter of the book.
Text: “But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.” - Matthew 23:11
Devotional: Jesus had just been renouncing the scribes and pharisees for their desire for honor among the population (v. 5-10). However, Jesus makes it clear that being in a position of honor in the eyes of God is reserved for the one who puts himself in a position of serving others. Do you seek attention and glory for yourself from the people around you, or do you ask yourself how you can best serve others?
Prayer: Father, please help me to put aside my human instinct for attention and admiration. I care more about what you think of me than what others think of me. Help me to be a servant today in whatever way I can.
Challenge: Do something self-sacrificing today for someone else. Give up a moment of your time to make someone’s day.
Our congregation’s mission:
“At the Marshfield church of Christ we are committed to glorifying God and uplifting one another through worship, spiritual growth, outreach, fellowship, and service to the community.”
Our congregation’s motto:
