Saturday, 3/28/20 - Poor In Spirit
The Daily Manna
Welcome to your Saturday devotional and news update.
COVID-19 SITUATION: Due to the state mandated ban on public gatherings, and in order to best protect our members, guests, and our community, all public gatherings and events are suspended until further notice. Please subscribe to The Daily Manna to stay informed.
Devotional
We are currently in a series of devotionals over the book of Matthew. Every day we will have a devotion from a different chapter of the book.
Text: “Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” - Matthew 5:3
Devotional: Being poor means you don’t have something you need. What spiritual thing do we need? We need forgiveness and cleansing of our sins, and we have no way of obtaining these through our own actions. When we realize that we are totally at God’s mercy, surrendering to Him, then He becomes our King, and we can enter His kingdom. Do you realize you are poor spiritually, and need God totally?
Prayer: God in heaven, I need you! I am poor and spiritually destitute without your hand of mercy. Give me what I need spiritually today, and help me submit to you so I can enter your kingdom with you as my King.
Challenge: Read Matthew 18:21-35, and contemplate who each person in the parable represents. Which one are you? What did God supply for you?

Announcements
With the statewide mandate of no public gatherings, all our events and services have been canceled until further notice. We are unsure of how long this ban will persist, but since we understand that the function of the church does not rely on the availability to meet in a building, we will continue to do our work as normal. Please stay tuned to this newsletter to keep updated on when things change and we can meet in person again.
Upcoming Events
All upcoming events for the next few weeks have been canceled due to the spread of COVID-19 in our area. Please see the “Events” page on our website for a complete list of upcoming events in the future.
